Why Does My Presentation Say "Outdated"?

What it means when a presentation is flagged as outdated and how to fix it

If you see an "Outdated" label on a presentation in your library, or an alert saying there's a newer version available, it means your Ingage app needs to be updated. The presentation itself is fine — your app just needs a newer version to display it properly.

What's Happening

Ingage regularly adds new features and components to presentations. When your app is on an older version, it may not know how to display those newer features. Rather than showing you a broken presentation or hiding it entirely, Ingage shows you the most recent version of the presentation that your app can display, and lets you know that a newer version exists.

In short: the presentation isn't out of date — your app is.

What You'll See

On iPad

You'll see an alert that says "There's a newer version of the presentation available." You'll have two options:

  • Continue — Dismiss the alert.

  • Present — Open and present the version that's available to you.

You won't be able to edit the presentation until your app is updated.

On Desktop

You'll see an "Outdated" label on the presentation thumbnail in your library. When you open it, you'll see a similar alert with the option to present.

You won't be able to edit the presentation until your app is updated.

Presentation Missing from Your Library Entirely

In some cases, if your app is significantly out of date, a presentation may not appear in your library at all. If a colleague can see a presentation that you can't, this is likely the reason — your app version is too old to display any version of that presentation.

How to Fix It

Update your Ingage app to the latest version. Once your app is current, the outdated flag will disappear and you'll have full access to the latest version of your presentations, including editing.

  • iPad: Open the App Store, search for Ingage, and tap Update (or enable automatic updates).

  • Desktop: The app should prompt you to update on launch. If it doesn't, check with your IT administrator.

On a managed device? If your company's IT department manages your device and you can't update apps on your own, let them know that the Ingage app needs to be updated. They can push the update through your organization's device management system.

Can I Still Present While My App Is Out of Date?

Yes. Even when a presentation is flagged as outdated, you can still present it. The version you see may be missing the very latest design changes, but it will still contain your content and work for presenting. This is by design — we'd rather you have something to present during an important meeting than nothing at all.

That said, we recommend updating your app as soon as possible to make sure you're always presenting the latest version of your content.

Information for Admins

If you manage Ingage for your organization, here are a few tips to keep things running smoothly:

  • Include Ingage in your update policies. If you use a mobile device management (MDM) solution, make sure Ingage is set to update automatically across all managed devices.

  • Let your team know when updates are available. When a major update is released, a quick heads-up gives your team time to update before it impacts their presentations.

  • Check app versions first when troubleshooting. If a user reports a missing or outdated presentation, verifying their Ingage app version is the fastest way to diagnose the issue.
