What Presentation Paused Means
The Presentation Paused label means the user left the Ingage app while a presentation was still open. Ingage Analytics only tracks activity that takes place inside a presentation, so when a user navigates away from the app, that time is treated as a pause rather than as part of the active session.
While the user is away from Ingage, Analytics does not track what they are doing, and it does not record how long they were gone. Instead, Analytics records the timestamp of the moment the user returns to the presentation, and the session continues from that point.
Ingage Analytics does not record the time spent away from the app. It captures only the specific time the user returns to the presentation. Any activity that takes place outside of Ingage during the pause is not measured or included in the session.
Moving from one Ingage presentation to another within the app — for example, by using an Open Presentation button — does not create a Presentation Paused event. That activity stays inside Ingage and continues to be tracked as part of the same session.
Common Causes
A Presentation Paused event is typically logged when a user steps outside of Ingage in the middle of a presentation. The most common situations include:
Using software outside of Ingage during a presentation.
Using an integration that is not connected to Ingage.
Accessing documentation not kept within the presentation.
Things to Know
The Presentation Paused label appears in the Event column of the Session report. To learn how to read this report, see Measuring Results with Ingage Analytics.
A session captures all activity from when a presentation is launched until the user returns to the Library. For tips on capturing clean, accurate session data, see Best Practices for Ingage Analytics.
If users are frequently leaving presentations open between appointments, consider enabling a Session Inactivity Timer to prompt them to start a new session.
