When creating a new presentation in Ingage in our Ingage Desktop App, you'll be asked to choose an aspect ratio. This determines the shape and dimensions of your presentation, which should match how your audience will view it. Selecting the right aspect ratio ensures your content displays beautifully on your target device.
Available Aspect Ratios
Ingage offers four aspect ratio options, each optimized for specific devices and use cases.
iPad (4:3)
The 4:3 aspect ratio is optimized for iPad displays and has been the Ingage standard for years. Choose this option when your sales reps present in-home using iPads. This format looks great when you place the iPad on a counter or table in front of your customer, filling the screen without black bars or wasted space.
Best for:
In-home sales presentations on iPad
Sales reps who carry iPads into customer appointments
Teams already using iPad-based workflows
Widescreen (16:9)
The 16:9 widescreen format matches modern laptop screens and televisions. This is the same aspect ratio used by most HD and 4K displays, making it versatile for multiple presentation scenarios.
Best for:
Presenting on laptop computers (Windows, MacBook, Chromebook)
Displaying on televisions or large monitors
Trade show or home show displays on widescreen TVs
Corporate boardroom presentations
Kiosk setups using horizontal widescreen displays
When paired with a touch-capacitive overlay on a large TV, widescreen presentations become fully interactive kiosks where customers can tap buttons and navigate much like on an iPad.
Vertical Kiosk (9:16)
The 9:16 aspect ratio is essentially a widescreen display rotated 90 degrees into portrait orientation. This tall, narrow format is ideal for standing kiosk displays at events.
Best for:
Trade show booths with vertical standing displays
Home show kiosks in portrait orientation
Any scenario where your screen is taller than it is wide
Like widescreen setups, vertical kiosks work beautifully with touch-capacitive overlays for interactive customer experiences.
Mobile Web (Optimized for Scrolling)
The mobile web format is specifically designed for viewing on smartphones. Unlike other aspect ratios that display one page at a time, this format is optimized for the natural scrolling behavior of mobile web browsers.
Best for:
Pre-appointment confirmations sent via text message
Digital leave-behinds shared with customers after appointments
Any presentation link that will primarily be opened on a phone
Canvassers who present from their smartphones while in the field
Mobile web presentations can be shared as public web links via text message, or viewed in the Ingage iOS app on iPhone.
How to Choose Your Aspect Ratio
When you click the plus button to create a new presentation, you'll see all four aspect ratio options with preview thumbnails showing how your selected theme will appear in each format.
Consider these questions when making your choice:
What device will your audience use to view this? Match your aspect ratio to that screen shape.
Is this for field sales, events, or digital sharing? Field sales typically use iPads, events often use kiosks, and digital sharing works best with mobile web.
Will this be displayed horizontally or vertically? Widescreen for horizontal, vertical kiosk for portrait orientation.
You can also click "Choose Theme" in the top right corner to preview how different themes look at each aspect ratio before making your final selection.
Optimized Page Templates and Pop-ups
Each aspect ratio includes page templates and pop-up layouts specifically designed for that format. When you add a new page or create a pop-up button, the available layouts will automatically match your presentation's aspect ratio. This ensures every element of your presentation looks polished and professional on your target device.
Important: Choose Carefully
Once you select an aspect ratio and begin building your presentation, there is no simple way to switch to a different aspect ratio within the app. If you need to change the aspect ratio after creating content, please contact Ingage Support. Our team can convert your presentation, but you will need to review and adjust the layout of every page since content designed for one screen shape won't automatically reformat for another.
Tip: If you need the same presentation in multiple formats—for example, an iPad version for in-home sales and a mobile web version for digital leave-behinds—consider creating separate presentations for each use case from the start.
