Importing Designs to Ingage

When designing content in another app (creating a graphic or a chart) use the 12.9” iPad Pro screen resolution of 2732 px x 2048 px. This will ensure your designs look high res. If you’re designing using Sketch you can create art boards at 1024 pt x 768 pt, then export them with a 2732 px width.

Dimensions for popular page layouts

Full-page layouts 2732 px x 2048 px

Horizontal Layouts 2732 px x 1364px

Half page layouts 1366 px x 2048 px

Two-Thirds page layout 1708 px x 2048 px

Safe Area

Use an 86 px safe area if your designs extend under the nav bar. The Nav Bar height varies on different sized iPads.

Asset file size limits for Ingage Desktop

When adding content to your Presentation, there is a limit on the file size of the individual asset you may want to use.

Ingage Desktop File Size Limit

  • 2GB maximum (starting in Ingage Desktop v2.6.3)

    • Note: Prior versions of Ingage Desktop have a 1GB maximum limit per asset

Common Large Files

The most common "large" file we see in Presentations is video. When adding a video to your Presentation, you may notice a delay in the app as Ingage optimizes then uploads your video to cloud. Various factors determine this length of time, including file size, video type, and network upload speed.

Guide for resizing Assets

Images

Since Ingage supports the iPad Pro, the assets you choose should be big enough to display on a Retina 12.9" screen. In resolution terms, for a full-screen image you are looking at a minimum of 2732 x 2048 at 264 pixels per inch (ppi).

If your assets are significantly larger than that, you may want to resize them (down) to them get closer to that spec. Doing so will reduce your overall story size, which makes it download faster and take up less space on your customer's device. One caveat to keep in mind, however, is that if you plan to zoom in on an image within the Ingage app, you'll want to keep it larger to avoid any loss of quality.

If your original images are smaller than the above recommended resolution for iPad Pro, we recommend you do not make them larger. Doing so will not improve their quality in the app. If your images are below this spec and do not appear sharp enough when testing in the app, we suggest finding larger images to use.

Video

Most video editing programs allow you to export video based on the device it is intended for. Choosing "iPad" will ensure that it is high-quality enough for iPad Pro screens and for web browsers (for those customers viewing your story in the web view).

Tips for Video Compression & Optimization

Ingage Presentations and Ingage Presentations for Desktop supports video in various container formats like .mp4, .m4v and .mov files.

When working with videos, it’s good to remember that they can quickly make your presentation to grow larger in size, so it’s a good practice to optimize videos before adding them to your presentation.

One free tool that can be used to optimize videos called "HandBrake”. This tool available as a download for both Mac OS and Windows operating systems at

Compressing Video Files with HandBrake:

  1. Drag your video assets onto the HandBrake interface, or click the "Open Source" button to select a video file on your computer.

  2. Click the "Preset" dropdown to select a preset.

    1. We recommend Fast 1080p30 setting in the general section.
