Using In-App Training

Admins and Creators can attach training content to individual pages of a presentation — text, images, video, audio, PDFs, or a recording made in-app on Desktop. Reps see it in a sidebar while presenting, so training stays with the material it's about.

Why Use It?

Training stays current automatically. Because training content is versioned with the presentation, an update to the presentation doesn't leave the training behind. Publish a new version and the training comes with it.

Training travels through the Marketplace. When a presentation with training content is installed from the Marketplace, the training installs with it — no separate file to track down or request.

Reps get context within the presentation Training content appears automatically based on the page you're on, so there's no separate document to track down. It's there for you to review while you're prepping for an appointment.

Record training without leaving Ingage. On Desktop, you can record video, audio, or a transcript directly in the training panel while you're looking at the page it belongs to — no separate recording tool, no export, and no upload step.

Before you start: Only Admins and Creators can create or edit training content. All other roles can view training content but cannot create or edit it."

Step 1: Add Training Content (Admin/Creator)

  1. Open the presentation in edit mode.

  2. Select the page you want to add training content to.

  3. Open the Idea panel dropdown and select Training.

  4. Use the training sidebar toolbar to format text, or drag and drop images, video, MP3 files, or PDFs onto the page.

    • You can also link out to external content, such as an LMS.

  5. On Desktop, you can record content instead of uploading it. Select the record icon in the training panel and choose one of three options:

    • Video — records your video and your audio, and adds a transcript along with the recording.

    • Audio — records your voice only. A checkbox lets you include or skip the transcript.

    • Transcript only — records your voice to generate a transcript, then saves the transcript without the audio.

  6. Select record to start. While recording you can pause and resume, or stop when you're finished.

  7. Review the recording, then choose discard, retake, or add. Selecting add places the recording into the training content for that page.

  8. Repeat for each page that needs training content.

  9. Save as a draft to keep working, or publish to make it available to viewers.

Step 2: View Training Content (All Roles)

  1. Open a presentation from the library.

  2. Select the ellipsis dropdown and choose Training.

  3. Present as normal — the training sidebar updates automatically as you move between pages.

  4. Expand the sidebar for a larger view at any time.

The Viewer Experience

Reps see a training sidebar next to the presentation as they move through it. If no training content exists for a page, the sidebar shows an empty state. On Web, only published training content appears. On Desktop, both draft and published content are visible depending on the presentation's status.

FAQ

Who can create training content?

Only users with Admin or Creator permissions, on a Suite or Enterprise plan.

Can Pro plans use training content?

Pro plans can view training content, but only when it's attached to a presentation installed from the Marketplace. Pro cannot create training content or view training on presentations they've built themselves.

Does training content update automatically when I update the presentation?

Yes. Training content is versioned along with the presentation, so publishing a new version updates both together.

What happens if a presentation with training content is shared through the Marketplace?

The training content installs automatically along with the presentation.

Can I view draft training content on Web?

No. Web only displays published training content. View draft content on Desktop.

What file types are supported?

Common types include images (PNG, JPEG), MP4 video, MP3 audio, PDFs, and links to YouTube, Vimeo, or Loom. A wider range of file types is supported beyond this list, with some limitations.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes — 2GB per file.

Can I record training content directly in Ingage?

Yes, on Desktop. In the training panel, select the record icon and choose video, audio, or transcript only. You don't need an outside recording tool, and there's no file to upload afterward.

Can I record training content on Web?

No. Recording is available on Desktop only. Web remains view-only for training content.

What's the difference between the three recording options?

Can I record audio without a transcript?

Yes. When you record in audio mode, clear the transcript checkbox before selecting add, and only the audio is saved.

Can I pause while I'm recording?

Yes. You can pause and resume as needed, then stop when you're finished.

What if I don't like my recording?
