iPad Features for Conferences and Remote Presentations

Use Show Gestures for remote presentations over Zoom and Kiosk Mode with Guided Access for unattended conference displays on iPad

The Ingage iPad app includes several features that are easy to overlook but can make a big difference when you're presenting remotely over Zoom or setting up an iPad at a conference booth. Two of the most useful are Show Gestures for virtual presentations and Kiosk Mode for unattended displays — both accessible through the iPad app's settings.

Show Gestures: A Visual Indicator for Remote Presentations

When you're presenting over Zoom, Teams, or any screen-sharing tool, your audience can't see where you're tapping on the iPad. This makes it hard for them to follow along, especially on content-rich pages with multiple interactive elements. The Show Gestures feature solves this by displaying a blue indicator dot on screen wherever you tap, so your virtual audience can see exactly where you're interacting with the presentation.

How to Enable Show Gestures

  1. Open a presentation in the Ingage iPad app

  2. Tap the Settings button (gear icon) in the upper area of the screen

  3. Toggle Show Gestures to on

  4. Begin presenting — you'll now see a blue dot appear on screen each time you tap, giving your remote viewers a clear visual cue of where you're navigating

Tip: This is especially helpful when presenting over Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or any screen-sharing session. Your audience can follow along as you tap through buttons, popups, sections, and pages without losing track of where you are on the screen.

Kiosk Mode: Unattended Presentations for Conferences and Events

If you're setting up an iPad at a trade show, conference booth, showroom, or retail display, Kiosk Mode turns your Ingage presentation into a self-running, customer-facing display. It includes a built-in timer that automatically resets the presentation back to the starting point after a period of inactivity — so you don't have to manually reset it after each visitor walks away.

Kiosk Mode Settings

Kiosk Mode is accessible through the same Settings menu in the Ingage iPad app:

  1. Tap the Settings button (gear icon)

  2. Locate the Kiosk Mode options

  3. Configure the following settings:

    • Enable sharing — Toggle this on to automatically make the presentation shareable via web link, giving booth visitors a convenient way to take a resource with them

    • Set a timer — Choose how long the presentation should wait after the last interaction before automatically resetting to the first page

Using iPad Guided Access with Kiosk Mode

For a true kiosk experience, combine Ingage's Kiosk Mode with Apple's Guided Access feature. Guided Access locks the iPad into a single app and lets you control which areas of the screen are tappable — preventing visitors from accidentally exiting the presentation or navigating to the iPad's home screen.

To set up Guided Access:

  1. On your iPad, go to Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access and turn it on

  2. Set a passcode that will be used to exit Guided Access later

  3. Open your Ingage presentation and begin presenting

  4. Triple-tap the Home button (or the Power/Side button on iPads without a Home button) to start Guided Access

  5. Before tapping Start, you can optionally circle areas of the screen you want to disable — for example, you might disable the back-to-library button so visitors can't exit the presentation

  6. Tap Start to begin the locked kiosk experience

With Guided Access active and the Kiosk Mode timer set, the presentation will automatically reset to the beginning after each visitor finishes interacting with it, and no one can exit the Ingage app without your passcode.

To exit Guided Access, triple-tap the Home button (or Power/Side button) and enter your passcode.

When to Use These Features

  • Virtual sales calls — Enable Show Gestures when screen-sharing your iPad over Zoom or Teams so prospects can follow along with your taps

  • Trade shows and conferences — Set up Kiosk Mode with Guided Access for an unattended display that resets automatically between visitors

  • Showroom displays — Leave an iPad in a showroom or lobby running a product presentation that customers can interact with

  • Training sessions — Use Show Gestures when demonstrating Ingage features to new team members over a virtual call

  • Retail or event kiosks — Combine Kiosk Mode's auto-sharing with Guided Access for a hands-off customer experience that also delivers a take-home web link

Things to Know

  • Both Show Gestures and Kiosk Mode are iPad-only features — they are not available on the Desktop app

  • Show Gestures displays a visual indicator for taps only — it does not record or broadcast gestures outside of what is visible on screen

  • Guided Access is an Apple iOS feature, not an Ingage feature — you configure it in your iPad's Settings > Accessibility menu

  • When using Kiosk Mode at an event, make sure the iPad is connected to power and has a reliable Wi-Fi connection if the presentation includes web-based content or sharing features
