Duplicating Actions Between Components

Save time by copying an action from one component and pasting it onto another — within the same presentation or across different presentations

When you've built out a great popup, image carousel, web link, or any other action on one component, you don't have to recreate it from scratch on another. Ingage lets you copy an action from one component and paste it onto a different one — whether it's on the same page, a different page, or even in a completely different presentation. This is a major time-saver when you need the same interaction in multiple places.

How to Copy and Paste an Action

  1. Open your presentation and enter Edit mode

  2. Navigate to the page that contains the component with the action you'd like to copy

  3. Right-click on the component that has the action (e.g., a button with a popup, an image with an image carousel, etc.)

  4. Select Copy Action from the context menu

  5. Navigate to the component you'd like to apply the action to — this can be on the same page, a different page, or a different presentation entirely

  6. Right-click on the target component

  7. Select Paste Action from the context menu

  8. The action is now applied to the new component, including all of its settings and content

Tip: This works with all action types — popups, image carousels, web links, file actions, audio, Go to Page, Open Presentation, and Launch App. Whatever action is on the source component will be duplicated onto the target.

Example: Applying the Same Popup to Multiple Components

Imagine you have a page with four numbered tiles. Tile 1 already has a popup action configured with content inside it. Tiles 2, 3, and 4 don't have any actions yet. Instead of building three new popups from scratch:

  1. Right-click on Tile 1 and select Copy Action

  2. Right-click on Tile 4 (which has no action) and select Paste Action

  3. Tile 4 now has the same popup as Tile 1

  4. Edit the popup on Tile 4 to update its content as needed

You can repeat this process for Tiles 2 and 3, pasting the copied action and then customizing each popup's content individually. This gives you a consistent starting point while still allowing each tile to have unique content.

Copying Actions Across Presentations

Copy Action and Paste Action also work across different presentations. If you've built a well-designed popup or image carousel in one presentation and want to reuse it in another, you can copy the action, navigate to the other presentation, and paste it onto a component there. This is especially useful when you're building multiple presentations that share similar interactive elements.

When to Use Copy and Paste Action

  • Consistent popups across tiles — When multiple components on a page need similar popup structures with different content, copy the first and customize the rest

  • Reusing image carousels — Copy a configured image carousel from one component to another to save time on setup

  • Standardizing web links — If multiple components should link to the same URL, copy the action rather than manually entering the URL on each one

  • Building templates — When creating a presentation structure that will be duplicated for different teams or regions, set up actions once and copy them to speed up the build

Things to Know

  • Copy Action copies the entire action including its type, settings, and content (e.g., a popup's layout, components, and configuration)

  • If the target component already has an action, Paste Action will replace the existing action with the copied one

  • After pasting, you can edit the action on the target component independently — changes won't affect the original source

  • This feature is available on the Desktop app (Mac and Windows)
