Common Use Cases for a Web Link

Ingage is more than a tool for presenting content in home, it's a great way to share content with your customers or colleagues and collect analytics on how they interact with this content. Some great use cases include:

  1. Share a presentation you're working on with a colleague who may not have Ingage on their device, allowing them to review and provide feedback.
  2. Appointment Confirmation: Share a presentation with your customers before your in-home meeting.
    1. Include details about the representative who will join them in the home to build recognition and trust.
    2. Provide the agenda for the upcoming meeting, and how the customer might prepare for a productive conversation.
    3. Share photos of projects you're proud of for your customers to peruse for inspiration.
  3. Post Appointment Resources: Share a presentation with your customers after your meeting for a decision maker who was unable to attend, or just to remind your customer of all you offer.
    1. Remind them of the processes and next steps that you'll be taking care of now that they've closed a deal with your team.
    2. Link to project management portals, or share your contact details so that they know how to keep in touch.
    3. Solicit an online review to keep more projects coming your way!

Link Options

Understanding and editing link options:

  1. Access link options by clicking Link Options (desktop) or clicking on the link (iPad)
  2. At the top of the pop up, you can toggle between Web Link and Deep Link
    1. Web Link is the link you will share with a customer or a colleague who is not a member of your Ingage account, as it will allow the recipient to view the Ingage content in their default web browser
    2. Deep Link is the link you will share with a colleague who is a member of your Ingage account, as clicking this link will open the presentation within the Ingage App on their device
  3. With Web Link highlighted in green at the top of the pop up you will see a preview of the content as it will appear in the recipient's web browser
  4. Below the preview you can alter the Style to be Scrolling or Presentation
    1. Scrolling style shares your content linearly, allowing the viewer to scroll from one page to the next in a vertical motion, like a website
    2. Presentation style shares your content in the presentation view you're used to in Ingage, including arrows in the lower right of the screen to navigate from page to page, and a navigation bar listing sections
  5. Below the Style options you can add an Analytic Tag
    1. Adding an Analytic Tag will alter the URL to include ?c= and your chosen analytic tag. Including an Analytic Tag will allow you to track who accessed this presentation via this specific link.
    2. Analytic Tags can only use upper or lower case letters (a-z, A-Z) and numbers (0-9), and hyphen and underscore characters (- _). Other special characters and blank spaces cannot be used. These include, but are not limited to:

      $ . + ! * ' ( ) , ; / ? : @ = & " < > # % { } | \ ^ ~ [ ] `
  6. Below the Analytic Tag you have the option to Copy Link (desktop) or Share Link (iPad)
    1. When you Copy Link you can take it anywhere and share it via any method
    2. When you Share Link you will be presented with different iOS options like Airdrop, Texting, Notes, Email, and More. From this menu you can also select Copy to take this link where ever you need it.

Troubleshooting and FAQ

Why can't the recipient of a web link I sent via text message click on the link?

While not common, you may receive feedback from your customer that a web link you send them as a text message isn't clickable.

Message apps can handle links in different ways. In order to protect users, some messaging platforms can choose to not make links clickable/tappable for recipients if the sender is not in the recipient's contact list.

This is a safety and security issue with the messaging platform and not an issue with the Ingage platform.

We recommend:
  • If you have both a customer email address and phone number, sending the link to both the email address and phone number
  • Encourage your customers to add you to their contact list so they don't miss any project messages from you. If you become a contact, the links in text messages from an iPhone can become tappable
  • If sending a link with other text, send the text and the link as separate messages to make it easy for the customer to copy & paste
  • If your CRM has the ability to send text messages from that platform, use that instead of your own cell phone number
We've found that Apple can be more aggressive than others against spam and junk message. For example, if you use an iPhone (either with iMessage on or off) or an iPad (via iMessage) to send a web link, the recipient won't be able to click on the link until they've saved you as a contact. If they don't save you as a contact, the recipient will need to copy the link from the message and paste it into their web browser in order to open the link.

Why isn't the video in my presentation playing audio in the web browser?

As a result of bad ads on website, most browsers no longer let embedded videos automatically play their audio when loading a site.

If you share your Presentation on the web and your Presentation has a video with audio and you've set it to auto-play, please follow these steps to enable the audio playback:

  1. Click on the mute button twice. This will toggle mute, then unmute which will allow the audio to play.

We recommend disabling autoplay on videos in presentations you intend to send via web link.

Recipient of Web Link presentation cannot open linked presentations

The Open Presentation Action uses a deeplink to open one Ingage presentation from another, requiring the presentation to be accessed on a device logged in to your Ingage account.

To link from one presentation to another for content shared via web link:

  1. Create a web link for each presentation you would like to be accessible on the web
  2. Where you might usually use the Open Presentation Action, instead link to the other presentations via the Web Action
  3. Add the presentation web link as the URL when editing the action
