Cropping an Image

Adjust which part of an image is visible in your presentation by zooming in and repositioning with the Crop tool

Written by Zakk Rome

Not every image you add to a presentation will be framed perfectly. Maybe there's extra space around the subject, unwanted elements at the edge of the photo, or you just want to zoom in on a specific area. The Crop tool in Ingage lets you adjust which part of an image is visible within its frame — without altering the original image file.

How to Crop an Image

  1. Locate your presentation and enter Edit mode

  2. Navigate to the page containing the image you'd like to crop

  3. Click on the image to select it — you'll know it's selected when you see a blue border around it

  4. Enter the Crop tool using either method:

    • Double-click directly on the image, or

    • Click Crop in the Style Panel on the right sidebar

  5. Once in Crop mode, you'll see a slider bar that controls the zoom level of the image

  6. Drag the slider to the right to zoom in (scale up), or to the left to zoom out

  7. Click and drag the image itself to reposition it within the frame — the vibrant area is what will be visible, and the hazy area around it will be cropped out

  8. When you're happy with the framing, click Done

Tip: Cropping in Ingage is non-destructive. The original image is preserved — you're only adjusting which portion is visible within the image component's frame. You can go back and re-crop at any time.

When to Use Crop

  • Focus on a subject — Zoom in and reframe to draw attention to the most important part of a photo

  • Remove distractions — Crop out unwanted elements at the edges of an image without needing to edit the original file

  • Fit an image to a layout — When an image's proportions don't match the space on your page, use crop to adjust what's visible so it looks clean within the frame

  • Create consistent visuals — Crop multiple images to similar framing so a page with several photos has a uniform, professional look

Things to Know

  • Cropping adjusts what's visible within the image frame — it does not resize the image component on the page. To resize the component itself, drag the white handles on the bounding box when the image is selected (outside of Crop mode).

  • The crop is non-destructive — your original image is never altered. You can re-enter the Crop tool at any time to readjust.

  • You can also adjust how the image fills its frame using the Scale Mode setting in the Style Panel: Fill ensures the image covers the entire frame (possibly cutting off edges), while Fit ensures the entire image is visible (possibly showing blank bars).

  • The Crop tool works the same way for images inside popups, Compare components, and Gallery components.
